Arrived at Shiloh on 3/25/07

This is a pregnant mare who was rescued along with 24 other pregnant mares from the Fallon Feedlot with the help of The Fans of Barbaro, who together donated more than $13,000 to save these mares.

13 of the 25 mares came to Shiloh to have their foals in safety. The remaining mares were placed throughout the United States with other rescue organizations.

Hazel on 7/19/07, she has become a "Wanderer" for a while- she is having a great time!

Hazel looking a whole lot better on 5/18/07, she looks healthy and happy. She is now in the Mare Motel for more one on one attention.



UPDATE: 4/19/07 Sad news as Hazel gives birth to stillborn TWINS late last night. Poor Hazel had absolutely no prenatal care or nutrition prior to her rescue a few weeks ago and it affected her unborn foals. Twins are rare, and usually bring complications for one or both foals, these little guys appeared to be only 9-10 months old (premature). Attempts were made to revive them, but it was not to be. We are shocked that little Hazel carried them as far as she did. The little Twins were buried together at Shiloh.
