6/6/17 Manhattan is back in Shiloh's care due to health issues in his adoptive home. He will be re-evaluated for adotion this summer.
8/27/12 We have now happily put Manhattan up for adoption to a new home! He is moving soundly and being worked under saddle. He is still a bit green as before his arrival at Shiloh all he knew was the life on the track. This is a very kind hearted and friendly gelding who will make someone a fun pleasure riding horse. He gets along with other horses and loves to play. Due to his injury in 2010, he cannot be used for jumping, etc but will be just great for trail riding, arena work and pleasure riding. We will continue working with Manhattan until his new life comes along.
06/04/12 Manhattan having dinner with his friend.
04/28/12 Manhattan is looking great out in his pastures.
0/1/11 Manhattan is doing great in Okay Corral. We will be pulling him pasture soon to evaluate him for possible adoption. Manhattan had surgery for a forearm fracture a few years ago.
7/27/11 Manhattan is doig well, and enjoy life with his friend Roulette in Okay Corral.
5/28/10 Manhattan now has plates and screws in his one elbow- last month he was playing in his pasture (which he loves to do) and was kicked in the elbow, fracturing it. We brought him into the clinic immediatley and surgery was recommended for him. With the surgery, he has a good prognosis for being adoptable at some point as a pleasure riding horse, without the surgery, he would be a cripple. He did very well in the surgery and is making a nice recovery. He has to stay on stall rest (no turn out) for 60 days, he still has 30 days to go. He was x-rayed yesterday to check his progress and he is doing really well. (X-rays below.) He is looking wonderful overall and is a very good patient and a favorite of the vet clinic staff.
1/12/10 Manhattan is now out in the Okay Corral pasture where he is gaining weight and taking a break for a few months after his time on the racetrack.
Arrived at Shiloh on 11/15/09 from the Fallon Feedlot, days before being shipped to slaughter. We received a call about six horses on the feedlot while we were in NYC.
Manhattan, named for our NYC trip as well as in honor of the Flamingo Pool Bar's generous donation to save a horse (Manhattan, the cocktail!) is a beautiful OTTB gelding who arrived at Shiloh still wearing his racing plates. He is very friendly and is in pretty good health.
His Reg name is Dadsalittleunusual, we will be adding more info very soon.
Manhattan will remain in Isolation for at least 30 days.
