More Vet Care

Shiloh had another vet day on Weds, 11/28/07. We brought Trashy, Tin Man, and Navajo in. Showbiz went along in the trailer and went on to her new home near the clinic.

Vet Care 1

The day before we went into the clinic, Trashy showed some signs of colic. So we brought her into town and met the vet. It was discovered that she was suffering from an irregular heartbeat and very low blood pressure. Her temp had even dropped down to 95 degrees! A rectal exam was done and the vet found a large mass in the area of her intestines. Her colic signs had stopped (we had given her Banamine at Shiloh). We decided to bring her into the clinic the next morning, but we watched her closely that night.

In the clinic her mass was ultrasounded and it was found that it was pushing on her Aorta. It might be a Melonoma growth. Eventually, it will shut off blood flow, which will be fatal. We do not know how long she has, we don't even know how long she has had the growth. This was her first time showing any colic signs. All we can do is keep her comfortable and happy. By the time she returned to Shiloh, Trashy was acting normal, eating and looking great. So far, her heart is staying regular.

Navajo before his surgery. Navajo had to have part of his sheath removed due to skin cancer. (He has had areas frozen off for years, but it keeps coming back, bigger each time.)
