10/24/09 Super happy news as Gringo has been adopted by the Olsen Family of Pahrump, NV where he joins Shiloh Horse, Convoy in his new home and family! A great match for this special gelding.
10/18/09 Gringo has quickly become a favorite of all of us at the rescue- he is so sweet and gentle and is beginning to appreciate all of the care and attention he has been receiving. He is starting to blossom and it's great to see. He has learned what carrots are and is starting to ask for them. He stands quietly for grooming and wound cleaning (he arrived with some superficial wounds), stands for the farrier and stands for tacking up. Sabine went ahead a hopped on him on Saturday to see how he goes- he was wonderful! He is laid back and very slow, but as he gets some spark back, he should be more forward. With some more TLC, he should make a wonderful riding horse. He does have one very clubby foot on the front and doesn't have the best conformation- but he is sound and actually moves very well with a rocking horse canter and a springy trot.
Arrived at Shiloh 10/15/09.
Gringo was formerly owned by a friend of our Farriers. We were told he is well broke to ride. He appears sound, but is in rough shape. With a little TLC, he should be able to eventually find a loving home of his own.
