Acadia in Greener Pastures

"Those to whom we say farewell, are welcomed by others..." -Unknown

4/29/08 Sad news as Acadia was rushed into the vet clinic with a severe case of colic. It was very sudden and painful, once in the clinic, the desicion was made to let her pass peacefully.

Acadia was a very sweet and gentle mare, she had wonderful friends out in her pasture. She enjoyed her life at Shiloh, lazing the days away under the trees in her herd. She had a good horse life while she was with us and we are happy that we could give that to her. She was never sick and lived in comfort and friendship for all the years she was with us.

Rest in peace, Acadia.

UPDATE: 5/5/08 I just got off the phone with the vet clinic (I was out of the country when Acadia coliced, she was brought in by volunteers), the vet perfomed a necropsy on Acadia to find out exactly why she coliced. A tumor was found which had strangulated her small intestine. Even if she had undergone emergency surgery, she would have had to be put down on the table. Still, very sad...

SHILOH SANCTUARY HORSE

Acadia is a sweet and very cute 19 year old gray Arabian mare that was donated to Shiloh. She is suffering from a hock lameness problem and is not rideable. She is enjoying her new life in Shiloh's "Gelding one" pasture. We will have her lameness problem diagnosed very soon.

UPDATE: 9/21/05 Acadia is doing really well, she loves living in Gelding 1 with her friends. She also likes volunteer days when she gets bathed, groomed, and spoiled!
