UPDATE 3/25/07 Biloxi went on to his new homein Overton today! We are so happy he has been adopted to such a great family!
UPDATE 3/10/07 Happy news as Biloxi's adoption to a new home is pending!
Biloxi arrived at Shiloh with a broken front leg. His leg is currently in a cast and his prognosis is good. He was donated to Shiloh by a concerned neighbor who rescued him from his previous owner. The previous owner wanted to have the foal put down because he was unwilling to care for the foals condition and didn't want the expense. So little Biloxi would have been put down at six months because of someones selfishness and lack of compassion. At Shiloh Biloxi will be kept in a stall for thirty days so that his leg can heal properly. His arrival at Shiloh was also his weaning day and he was very afraid and lonely without his mother. He has been paired up with a companion, Aspen, a rescue from the slaughter auction who will give him comfort. We will update his story as he heals and gets used to life at Shiloh.
UPDATE: Biloxi just had his 30 day vet check-up on his leg. The vet was happy with his progress, she didn't feel that he had any nerve damage. His leg has atrophied and has very little muscle strength. He needs to wear a modified splint for another 3 weeks which allows him a little bit more movement but still gives him the needed support. In 3 weeks, he will be taken to the clinic for x-rays. Hopefully, after that he will be able to be turned out to help improve the movement and strength of his leg. Only then will we know if he will have any sort of deformity or restricted movement throughout his life.

UPDATE: 8/8/06 Biloxi has returned to Shiloh, his adoptive home just did not work out for him. He is currently living in the big pasture and will be looking for a special forever home.
Biloxi is healthy and will make someone a wonderful riding horse. His injury should not limit his useability and he has a bright future ahead of him. He will continue to be worked with at Shiloh until the right home comes along for him.
