See Under Saddle video below

8/30/10 Peace Pipe is now up for adoption to the right home. He is very green broke and needs an experienced rider only. He is kind and sweet and has good manners, but like any young horse, he likes to play around a bit before settling down to work. He is now lunging, which is when he likes to play, and is also being worked under saddle. We will continue to work with him until his new home comes along. Since we do not know his history from before he came to Shiloh, we are starting him from scratch. We believe he has been backed before, but we are taking it slowly with him.

He is now healthy and going sound. He stands for the Farrier and for tacking and grooming and he does tie.

8/28/10 It turns out that PP's hernia is not a hernia at all, just thickened skin around his umbilical area. It is merely cosmetic and will not hurt him or cause him any trouble. That is good news!

8/13/10 PP will have his hernia repaired on 8/24/10 and then will begin his adoption evaluation.

7/10/10 Now that PP is up to a healthier weight, we can arrange to have his small hernia addressed by the vet.

6/5/10 Peace Pipe is slowly putting on weight and is looking and feeling better. He is just such a gentle soul, very friendly and he is starting to blossom a bit now.

5/28/10 Peace Pipe was checked over by the vet as he was just not feeling well or gaining weight like he should. He is suffering from an internal infection from his castration that was performed before he was rescued. We also had blood drawn to check his liver function, we are waiting for the results. He is now being treated with strong antibiodics and is getting special care in the barn. We are working hard to get him to gain some weight and feel better...

Arrived on 5/12/10 from the Fallon, NV feedlot.

Peace Pipe is very thin and was recently gelded before being dumped at the lot or run through the auction. He is very sore and swollen, but should heal with time and care. Otherwise, he is very sweet.

The tip of one of his ears is missing, it looks like he had frost bite at some point and lost the tip (we have seen this before).

More info to come!
