UPDATE: 11/19/06 Bryce was ridden today. He was very good, sound and willing. He had good manners under saddle.

11/2/06 Bryce is a sweet, but wary, chestnut gelding who was rescued from slaughter on 11/2/06. As he gets to know and trust us a bit, he is becoming very friendly. (It is not uncommon for slaughter bound horses who have been through the auction system to be wary at first.)

We think that he was a "Dude String" horse, he has the tell tale saddle marks and the long, overgrown shod-on-all-four feet.

He appears to be sound and healthy and should make someone a wonderful riding horse once he has been rehabbed.

Shiloh has earned some "respect" from the killer Buyers at the Utah auction. We have a code of conduct that we stick to: we do not confront or argue with anyone. The auction is just not the time. We are strictly professional and business like toward everyone. There is no way we are going to change anyone's mind about slaughter at the auction- however, we do answer questions and hand out brochures if asked. This has paid off, lately, the killer buyer has stopped bidding on horses that we are trying to rescue- this has saved Shiloh a great deal of money. But this last auction, when Jill began to bid on Bryce, a man began to bid up the price. Everytime Jill bid, this man laughed and bid against us. Instead of paying something like $150-200 for Bryce, Shiloh had to pay $590.00 to save him. This man knew that we were a rescue and wanted to make us pay. Unfortunately, this behavior is not uncommon, some of these people just have no compassion at all. This man was so blatant in his behavior toward us, that even the known killer buyer gave him a hard look. But, in the end, we have Bryce and this man has only his ignorance. We won.

UPDATE: 12/06 Bryce found a home of his own! He now has his own loving family and young girl to ride, love, and care for him!
