CHATTY IN GREENER PASTURES
3/01/09 Some sad news as we had to make the difficult decision to have Gummie Pen member, Chatty, euthanised. His cancer had begun to spread and was affecting his quality of life. We decided to let him go with dignity, before his condition deteriorated any more. We put him to sleep standing next to his best friend, Heavenly. Chatty was eating Equine Senior from our hand when he passed and still had it in his mouth when he left us. Chatty was with us for over two years and he was a real character. He enjoyed a good life at Shiloh and he will be missed. In the blink of an eye, his spirit flew right up to the Greener Pastures on the gusty winds.
Rest in peace Chatty.
SHILOH SANCTUARY HORSE
2/6/09 Chatty was diagnosed with a possible brain tumor at the end of 2008. He is doing okay, but is showing a change in his personality. He is living in The Gummies with his best friend, Heavenly and we are keeping him comfortable. He is not in pain, but does get confused and lost at times.
8/08 Chatty is doing great, nice and fat. He has had his cancerous growths frozen off once and cut off another time. This is something we will have to do the remainder of his life. Otherwise, he is in excellent health and spirits.
Chatty is a sweet Appy gelding was rescued off of the Fallon Feedlot before he was shipped to be slaughtered. We were told he was used as a Dude String horse. He does have some cancerous growths on his sheath and penis area which will have to be taken off. He is also very thin.
This little guy is named Chatty because he talks all the time! He is very cute!
9/17/07- he started to lose a little weight, so he was moved today into "Assisted Living", where he will be fed Equine Senior at each feeding as well as all of the hay he can eat. Chatty in his pasture on

UPDATE: 10/23/07 It seems Chatty was being too "chatty" in his pasture, he tore open his shoulder somehow. It was a clean tear, very little blood. We cleaned it and stapled it closed (leaving areas to drain). He is currently recouperating in the barn and is being treated with antibiodics. He is doing great.
