Rebel in Greener Pastures

Rebel

3/09/09 Sadly Rebel passed away last night. He had been going downhill the past couple of months and showing his age (late 20's), but he still eagerly ate his hay and equine senior. There was no sign of a struggle and he was up and eating the night before. He was found laying in his favorite spot, it looked like he was already laying down when he passed. We think it was just his time and he had a peaceful last two years at Shiloh surrounded by friends and well fed and cared for. Rest in peace, Rebel.

SHILOH SANCTUARY HORSE

2/24/09 Rebel has entered Shiloh's Sanctuary where he will live out his life.

Arrived at Shiloh 6/30/07 This nice looking gelding was rescued off of the Fallon feedlot before being shipped to slaughter. Rebel was saved with donations from the Imprint's day School. The class of second graders auctioned off their artwork and donated the $500 they earned to the Shiloh Horses. We used it to purchase Rebel from the lot.

The students will be coming to visit Shiloh next month and will get the chance to meet Rebel in person! He appears to be sound and healthy. We were told that he was used in Civil War re-enactments, so we are assuming he is very well broke.

He will be evaluated soon for possible adoption to a new home. More info to come.
