ALAMO IN GREENER PASTURES

Alamo

8/24/08 Sad news this morning as gentle old Alamo passed away last night of natural causes. He was found laying in his corral with his friends, Shadow and Starwood, standing near by. Alamo was rescued from slaughter at an advanced age, he was one of those mellow old guys who is thrown away at the end of their lives. He was a Sanctuary horse and was able to live out the remainder of his days at Shiloh surrounded by his herdmates and caring people. Alamo went to Pet-a-palooza twice to represent Shiloh and rescue horses. He was such a gentle horse that anyone could handle him. Just last week, Alamo had been given a bath by some new volunteers and had been moved from Little Vacation Village, into Gummie I. His weight was slipping and we could tell that old age was taking it's toll on him. In fact, we had him checked by the vet just two months ago for his failing health. The vet said that it was just his age catching up to him. He was eating Equine Senior twice a day, plus all the hay he could eat, but he just continued to go downhill. We are so happy that Alamo passed away naturally in the night. He knew he was loved and safe right up to the end. Rest in peace, Alamo.

SHILOH SANCTUARY HORSE

Alamo is a very sweet and gentle chestnut gelding who was rescued from slaughter. He seems to be sound and healthy and we were told that he is a wonderful trail horse. Alamo will be evaluated once he has settled into his new home.

Alamo has entered Shiloh's Sanctuary.
