About Grady

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Horse
Grady is a sweet and sensitive gelding who was donated to Shiloh by his loving owner so that we could find him a safe and loving home.

Due to his prior racing career, Grady has arthritis but remains servicably sound. He is wonderful on trail, has great Dressage basics, and loves attention.

Grady will do best with a more advanced intermediate-level rider. He does seem to prefer a woman rider and would make a great horse for a woman or teenage girl who is looking for a sweet horse to have fun with and trail ride.

He is currently being evaluated.

UPDATE: 4/13/06 Grady loves living in the "Bachelor Pasture" and has teamed up with Anthem. He has really settled down and seems very happy. He will be evaluated for adoption this month!

Horse Evaluation:

Disposition: Sweet, can be flighty at times. Afraid of blankets and flapping bags. Gentle, enjoys attention and people.

Grooming:

Picking up feet: Good, picks all four up easily. Usually wears shoes in front if going on trail.

Catching/Haltering: Good, comes up to people in the pasture. Sometimes he can be a bit flighty while haltering, but calms right down and then stands there and lets the person halter him.

Leading: Good, follows.

Tacking up:

Round Penning:

Mounting/Dismounting:

Walk/Trot/Canter (Lope):

Trailering: Good, but doesn't tie in trailer.

Farrier: Good, stand still, sometimes needs to just be held (does not tie, but will stand if lead is just looped). Usually wears shoes on front if trail riding.

Vices: Doesn't tie. Can be spooky if windy and there are flapping bags or blankets around. Will do best with a confident and calm person.

UPDATE: 4/28/06 Grady's adoption is pending!

UPDATE: 7/31/06 Grady has moved to his new home in Pahrump with the Pinner Family. He joins Shiloh horse, Anthem, in his new home!
