7/27/11 Happy news as Intrepid is adopted to his new home!

3/16/11 Intrepid is now looking for his new home- he is moving sound and has been started under saddle. He lunges and has good manners for grooming, tacking up and the farrier. At this time he is considered "track broke" but I will continue to work with him until his new home comes along- he is working on turning, walking, mounting and in the next week or so trotting. We had his hind fetlock injected about 30 days ago and it made a great difference, before the injection he was a bit short on his one hind leg (with the racing injury), after the injection, he is moving sound. His old fracture from his racing days has fused- the problem is that there was some bone growth on the joint surface, which caused his lameness. With preventitive care (like injections) he should be able to go on to a great and full life. His x-rays and additional info are available from our vet. This is a very nice gelding, easy to work with, beautiful and kind.

2/7/11 Intrepid is doing well, moving sound and will begin his adoption evaluation within the next few weeks.

1/1/10 Intrepid is now out in the Okay Corral pasture where he can enjoy some down time and just be a horse after his life on the racetrack. He has already settled down quite a bit. We are hoping to begin his adoption evaluation in the Spring. His Suspensoiry Ligament injury is healing and he is moving much better now. He just needs some time off to rehab.

Arrived at Shiloh on 11/15/09 from the Fallon Feedlot, days before being shipped to slaughter. We received a call about six horses on the feedlot while we were in NYC.

Intrepid, which means "invulnerable to fear" is named after the aircraft carrier, The Intrepid in New York City. He is a very beautiful dark brown/black OTTB gelding who arrived at Shiloh still wearing his racing plates. He is very friendly and is in pretty good health. He was body clipped on the track and was freezing and shivering when he arrived at Shiloh at 3am. He is now wearing a nice warm blanket.

His Reg name is Aeronautics, we will be adding more info very soon.

New York will remain in Isolation for at least 30 days.
