Bayou is a 11 month old gelding who we rescued from slaughter. We are not sure yet of his breed , but because of his small size, we think he?will only grow to a?pony or small horse size. He is extremely sweet and cute! He was very frightened at the auction and was in a small pen with many other slaughter bound horses and seemed to be looking for his mother or another horse that would protect him. He was bought after a bidding war with the killer. It's unbelievable that a baby horse like Bayou would go to be killed in a slaughterhouse. He is currently living with Biloxi?who has become his playmate and Baja who is his babysitter.

UPDATE: Bayou has been very happily adopted to Karen Keyser of Ramona, CA! He will be joing another Shiloh horse, Memphis and Karen's other horses in CA. We are so happy for Bayou! What a wonderful story his life has become- from headed to slaughter at under a year old, to gaining a whole new future with a loving new owner.?We are hoping that he will become a lesson and show pony, and he may even learn to pull a cart!
