UPDATE: 8/27/06 Happy news as Alta is adopted by a wonderful Las Vegas family! She was adopted along with her best friend, Onyx, as a companion horse.

Alta and her young foal, Raven were rescued from a feedlot in Fallon, NV where they were scheduled to be shipped to slaughter in Canada within a day.

UPDATE: 6/30/06 Alta and Raven are still wary of people, but little Raven has approached us and will almost let us touch her. We contine to talk to them but we do not try to approach them, we are letting them get used to us and are letting them decide to come to us. They will have all the time they need to feel comfortable.
